A program in the Henry W. Bloch School's Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UMKC has an outcome that's more than just a grade — it's a real business with money making potential.
The E Scholars Program, which just graduated its first class of 32 student entrepreneurs this spring, gain experiences such as learning how to write a business plan, take entrepreneurship classes and work with entrepreneurs and business people from the Kansas City area. Students from all academic disciplines can apply for the program if they have an idea for a business.
Institute Executive Director Michael Song told the Associated Press that the goal is to accelerate the formation of businesses that will make over $50,000 in revenue the first year and more than $1 million in revenue in five years.
