Michael Kruger's Physics of Sports class attracts more than 100 students each semester. The course, which applies the natural laws of science to sporting activities, encourages students to examine how gravity, extensibility and technological developments affect the outcome of a game. When Kruger, Curator's professor of physics and department chair, began to search for a textbook for the course, he found that none existed. With the help of another UMKC professor, Kruger submitted a proposal for a textbook titled, "The Physics of Sports."
