At the University of Missouri-Columbia’s , “Autumn” – a film by two UMKC students – was named Best Drama and Best Overall Film, and received a cash prize of $500.
Blake Houston and Kara Gruenewald, senior Communication Studies students, created the film for their Advanced Production class, taught by Joan Grossman. Houston wrote and directed the film, while Gruenewald produced and edited the film.
“The Advanced Production course helped us through the various stages of pre-production, production, and post-production of our film, and throughout the semester, we received helpful feedback from our professor, Joan Grossman, as well as our classmates,” Gruenewald said.
"Autumn" is the story of a young man who keeps a recent medical diagnosis a secret as he enters into a new relationship with a young woman. Just as he finds the confidence to tell her the news, he discovers he’s not the only one with news to share.
