Mizzou Women Give, the women’s giving circle project at , voted to give more than $18,000 to MedZou. is a free, student-operated health clinic that provides care for Central Missouri residents. MedZou will use the funds to offer women’s health services, including a mobile mammography unit and annual examinations.
“We are really excited about the possibility of providing women’s health services and already have a number of physicians willing to support this project,” says Ashley Kimberling, a master’s student in the and director of business administration for MedZou.
New to campus, Mizzou Women Give selected MedZou as the recipient of its first gift after evaluating proposals from 11 campus organizations. The other finalists were and the . MedZou was chosen because of the project’s immediate and lasting impact on women’s health, the element of community outreach, and the student learning experience.
Mizzou Women Give’s membership includes faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends of the university. Each year, donors pool their funds and then decide what projects to support. Anne Deaton, wife of Chancellor Brady J. Deaton, learned about giving circles through a variety of contacts in higher education and has been a driving force in the group’s efforts.
