If you would like more information regarding any of the stories we share, or if you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact Dusty Schnieders schniedersd@umsystem.edu and/or Emily Lucas el59bz@umsystem.edu. If you would like to visit any of the campuses to see research and community service projects, please let us know and we can coordinate such meetings. There are also University of Missouri Extension offices in every county and district, who also like to show off what they do in your communities, and we would be happy to coordinate those visits as well.

With cancer, diabetes and heart disease among the leading causes of disability and death in the United States, imagine a long-term, in-home monitoring solution that could detect these chronic diseases early and lead to timely interventions. Zheng Yan and a team of researchers at the University of Missouri may have a solution. They have created an ultrasoft “skin-like” material — that’s both breathable and stretchable — for use in the development of an on-skin, wearable bioelectronic device capable of simultaneously tracking multiple vital signs such as blood pressure, electrical heart activity and skin hydration.

The 2022 Year in Review showcases the University of Missouri’s research and scholarly activity endeavors and successes, highlighting how the people of MU and their work are positively impacting Missouri and beyond.
