In 2001, Dr. Randall Prather first patented technology to remove a molecule on the surface of a pig’s cell. Two decades later, surgeons in Baltimore transplanted a pig heart into a human patient. This breakthrough technology was developed at Mizzou.

Mizzou engineers are helping NextGen Precision Health professionals process, analyze, protect big data. Precision medicine comes with large volumes of imaging data. Now, engineers, clinicians and medical professionals are training artificial intelligence to analyze those images to spot potential health issues.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies is ranked in the Top 50 of the nation’s best online graduate nursing programs for 2022 by U.S. News & World Report. It is the 10th year in a row the program has earned the top ranking.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City and Cottey College, a women's college in Nevada, Missouri, are partnering to offer more STEM degrees to women.

Missouri University of Science and Technology’s graduate online engineering programs are ranked ninth in the nation and seventh among public universities nationwide, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online Master’s in Engineering Program rankings.

Governor Mike Parson recommended $41.25 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for the Missouri Protoplex. That recommendation is part of Parson’s proposed investment of $468.9 million in ARPA funds for higher education capital improvement projects across the state.
