University of Missouri President Elson S. Floyd issued the following statement today regarding the pay increase the UM Board of Curators approved for him during its executive session on Dec. 16, 2005:
“I am grateful that the Board of Curators has approved this raise, and I deeply appreciate the display of confidence in my leadership. However, because of the continuing tight financial situation faced by our University, I have decided to donate this year’s raise, divided equally, to the development campaigns supporting our four campuses.”
The Board approved a $21,000 raise, or 6 percent, which would bring President Floyd’s salary to $371,000 starting in January 2006. President Floyd declined a 3 percent salary increase in November 2004.
